Few things can compare to gliding on pristine snow on a beautiful sunny day. There is no way to describe or duplicate that feeling anywhere. That's right we are die hard skiers and snowboarders. Yet we are still safety conscious. This is why we think it's important to give you these tips for ski and snowboard safety.
When the snow is very deep - avoid skiing too close to the trees. Believe it or not, but every single year someone dies while out skiing, and the cause of death is hypothermia or asphyxiation. Most people do not know what a tree well is. Deep snow is where these can be found most often such as in Colorado. A tree well occurs around the base of trees after a great deal of snow has had time to build-up. The low hanging branches prevent the snow near the tree from packing. Tree wells can be quite deep, infact deep enough to swallow an average person by a few feet. The skier typically falls in head first. Of course in this area the snow is too loose causing further sinking when trying to get out. There are unique challenges and dangers to prepare for with back country skiing. Many people are switching to rechargeable AA or AAA batteries because you don't want to find yourself in a situation without batteries. Because electronics are being made smaller, many are starting to use AAA batteries. So one thing we've found is the battery converter that allows for sizing up from the AAA to the AA sizes. It's much like an adapter that will make it possible to charge both sizes. Of course you'll use it with your automobile for charging, but it is most handy to have if you're stuck in a remote location.
If you haven't ever heard about impact shorts for snowobarders before today is your lucky day: these can help protect your tailbone from nasty injuries. These special shorts are padded in the backside plus the hip areas, and they'll really help a lot with preventing bruises. Also, don't think you'll be the only one wearing them because the smarter experienced riders are putting them on. It's just that, for one example, if you injure your tailbone you could be forced to watch everybody else have fun for months. No kidding, it's a nasty and painful injury to sustain, and impact shorts will help minimize possible damage or injury from a fall. An avid skier or snowboarder can find many different safety devices and systems to help them enjoy their sport. You don't need to go to extreme measures but it is very valuable to know the potential hazards involved as well as how to deal with the local terrain. Researching an unfamiliar area before traveling there is highly recommended. You can also check out local ski shops to get additional information.
